Attending? Who, why and howHow to get preparedGet Ready! This information will help you get the most out of your participation in The National Job Fair & Training Expo. Please take a few minutes to review it. In the following, the term "recruitment" is applicable to employers, educational facilities and employment services organizations. Ensure your success by following these tips. Things to do BEFORE the show 1. Read the Exhibitors' Manual: The Exhibitors' Manual is your guide to everything you need to know about show logistics, including dates, times, locations, admission, convenience, restrictions and regulations. Reading the Exhibitors' Manual is PART OF your Rental Agreement. Be especially aware of the set-up and take-down times and power-supply availability. Review your Rental Agreement to know if you ordered an electrical outlet. If you did not but would like to order one, please contact us. 2. Design your display well in advance: While money can sometimes make up for poor planning, leaving your display design to the last minute can seriously compromise the creative process. Order your display system, booth equipment, new graphics and promotional items four (4) weeks before the show to avoid mistakes... and stress. Take note that carpeting is MANDATORY. To order a carpet, download the Stronco-Decorating Order Forms from the official supplier document available in our download section (see the main menu). If you don't have booth equipment, you can order it from us. To make sure you have a booth package included in your reservation, please see the "Reservation description" section of your Rental Agreement. 3. Set measurable goals: To properly evaluate the success of your participation, set goals that you can measure against once the show is complete. Have targets for the number of visitors you expect, the number of qualified candidates you require and expected recruitment return. 4. Prepare your staff accordingly: Your booth staff should have full knowledge of your corporate image and the personnel needs you want promoted at the show. Make sure that they can qualify candidates properly and distribute literature appropriately. Choose your staff carefully; they will represent your company and create a first impression for potential candidates. 5. Order your MTCC’s parking pass (discount): Parking is available in the MTCC’s North building parking lot, located off Simcoe Street south of Front Street. The North building parking lot offers 1,200 spaces, base on availability. To order your parking pass, download the MTCC-Parking Pass from the MTCC documents available in our download section (see the main menu). Things to do AT the show 6. Qualify prospects...quickly!: The average visitor to your display will spend LESS than five minutes with you. During this time, your staff must qualify him or her as a candidate, determine his or her needs, goals and possibilities, and record contact information for follow-up. 7. Be thrifty with giveaways: Often literature distributed at a public event is not looked at or, even worse, it is discarded before leaving. A better idea is to produce and distribute less-expensive literature that has been adapted to your needs at The National Job Fair & Training Expo. You may include an offer to mail or e-mail your quality brochures. Only serious candidates will ask for further information. This is a great way to determine how interested a candidate is in working for your company. 8. Teach your staff the "pre-selection process": An interview at The National Job Fair & Training Expo is generally a screening interview. It is efficient in that it saves you a lot of time in your recruitment process. This type of interview is totally different from an office interview, where there are little or no constraints on time and space. Your staff should usually present your job offers and/or training opportunities and summarize their benefits in less than five (5) minutes. For a mini-interview or full interview, recruiters can use our Interview Areas (located in the Exhibition Hall), a quiet place where you can conduct longer interviews in privacy. 9. Don't over-staff your booth: Don't forget to leave room for your candidates... While many of your representatives may attend the show, not all of them need to be hanging around your booth. If you have a good staff at your disposal, you can draw up a formal staffing schedule and stick to it. This will provide your staff with positive experience for future participations in The National Job Fair & Training Expo. A maximum of three (3) people should work an average 10' x 10' booth. This leaves adequate space for candidate interaction. If you need or want more staff to manage your booth, you might consider to reserve a 10' x 20' booth space for the best impact. Things to do AFTER the show 10. Follow up with selected candidates immediately: When you get back to the office, you will probably have a stack of resumés and some more work to do. Don't let this stop you from following up with the candidates you generated. Schedule time for follow-up calls in the days after the show. Remember: If you don't call those hard-earned candidates, your competitors probably will! 11. Do your post-show evaluation: When the event is behind you, this is the time to see how well you did in meeting your goals. Did you get the number of visitors you expected? Did you generate enough qualified candidates? Will you meet your recruitment target? Did your information and graphics communicate the right message? Did your display do its job? How did you compare with competitors? Were you properly staffed? What can you do better next time? Answering these questions, and your own, will help you to be better prepared for your next participation in The National Job Fair & Training Expo. TopThe day before The National Job Fair & Training Expo is Set-up Day at the Exhibition Hall. This extra day is reserved to give you all the time you need to set up properly and with no stress. It is included in your registration, at no cost to you, because we want to take care of you. Opening hours for Set-up Day are from 2 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. All displays must be completed and ready for the inspection, which will take place at 8:30 p.m. that evening. No exhibit materials may be moved in the Exhibition Hall during public opening hours, except those that can be carried by hand. Contact us to get your copy of the Exhibitor's Manual for complete details about Set-up Day. We strongly recommend that all exhibitors take advantage of Set-up Day, including those who rent a booth package with us. Setting up the morning of opening day doesn't leave you much time to deal with unexpected problems. If you set up the day before, you'll have much less to think about. You'll also be available to enjoy the opening ceremony, scheduled right before the doors open, and perhaps even a cup of coffee!
